Supplier Segmentation involves grouping and classifying suppliers by their impact to a given business. It incorporates reviewing supplier segments, identifying supplier opportunities, developing product and service agreements, measuring performance, and creating supplier/cost profitability reports. Suppliers are often grouped into one of four categories: commodity, standard, strategic, or key.
